Sara gagnon, artist (paint)
"My journey began with one art class- maybe yours will too!"
Sara was born and raised in the beautiful Okanagan. Being the only daughter among six brothers, she comes from a big, creative and encouraging family.
Sara has always been creative, but she didn’t start painting until she took a class in school at age 12. It didn’t take her long to decide that this was her path in life! After that point, she took control of her own art education. She devoured every book on art techniques, enrolled in as many classes as she could, and, of course, painted constantly.
In 2009 Sara was a finalist for the Robert Bateman Award for furthering awareness of Canadian wildlife and nature through artistic expression. Her piece was featured in the Canadian Wildlife Federation calendar.
Since then, her original artwork has been shown in local galleries in the Okanagan and select pieces are available to buy throughout Kelowna. You will reliably find her at the annual Lake Country ArtWalk, the BC Interior’s largest art festival.
Landscapes, scenery, animals and flowers are her primary subjects. As she continues to push herself and experiment, she is also delving into digital art: children’s illustrations, cartoons and portraits.
You can follow her dedicated Instagram account for digital illustrations: @illustratorsaragagnon
Sara has also been teaching art classes (painting, sketching, acrylic, watercolour, drawing) with the City of Kelowna since 2011. She is truly passionate about teaching budding artists of all ages!
We at MotionWorx Physiotherapy are honoured to be partnered with Sara Gagnon, not only to display local artistic talent, but to give back to the art community by supporting and developing future artists in the Okanagan area, through outreach teaching programs and giving young artists the opportunity to showcase their outstanding art.
